Hi all, recently VirMach announced the upgrade of their OpenVZ nodes to KVM technologies, so I through that this would be the right time to make my review about my current VPS 9 from Buffalo by VirMach .
To talk about this VPS first we need to know it! So let's start listing the specs of this amazing and powerful VPS:
I have already reported this to the staff here, let's wait for their response.
Soon after I met another issue: OpenVZ configuration conflicts with Network Manager when trying to install remote desktop environment.
After that I discovered that one of the most famous container environment as Docker isn't well supported with the custom kernel provided by OpenVZ's developers.
Since then my VPS has been happily running my services without any issue and downtime.
As said by the staff, VPSes 9 are unmanaged ones, if you know how use unix-like OS you are ready to go. You can live together with the limitations listed above and you can find workaround and fixes for some of them.
You can see the on-going on the VPS following my domain: lightdestory's site
But here some important point:
======================================
Short introduction
======================================
I have started using this VPS since September 2019. I choose VPS 9 from all the other VPSes available during September's giveaway mainly for two reasons:- I was a newly member so my chance to win the other VPSes was really little due to my low credits and VPS 9 winning conditions is different compared to standard VPSes, in fact my request was for VPS 18 and VPS 9, so you should know how it ended.
- Let's be clear, VPS 9 is very powerful: a lot of RAM, fast and huge SSD storage and two logical core a 2.20GHz and TOS that are not so restricting. For my needs as developer VPS 9 seemed like a heaven.

My experience
=========================
I am a developer so after winning the VPS I wanted to start setting up my own environment, unfortunately I started my experience with the find-out of the OpenVZ's limitation with available OS. I wanted to use Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS but it wasn't available, the latest usable distro is 16.04 that has already reached EOL. I switched to CentOS 7 and successful started setting up the environment: nginx, php, mysql, firewall, securing ssh, ect...Soon after I met another issue: OpenVZ configuration conflicts with Network Manager when trying to install remote desktop environment.
After that I discovered that one of the most famous container environment as Docker isn't well supported with the custom kernel provided by OpenVZ's developers.
Since then my VPS has been happily running my services without any issue and downtime.

=========================
Conclusion
=========================
I will not write a lot as conclusion because VirMach already announced the upgrade from OpenVZ to KVM technologies so my some of the issue said above will be likely fixed.But here some important point:
- VPS 9 will be remain UNMANAGED: you need to know what are you doing;
- VPS 9 doesn't come with Control Panel, so for particular actions you will need staff's support;

Hello there everyone!
I just registered my account here, hence why I’m new.
Can’t wait to interact with all of you!
Special thanks to sohamb03 for referring me to post4vps. This is an awesome service you offer here, specially considering that I don’t have a credit card to buy my own vps.
Have a wonderful day!

Hello guys. I'm thinking to get a home server to run Pfsense (to have IPv6 at home since my ISP doesn't provide it), Proxmox (because sometimes I wanna test some stuffs so instead of renting an hourly VPS, I do it at home)
I asked a friend and he told me about Dell PowerEdge R620, I saw it on OLX for 6000 EGP and when I checked eBay, all the prices was around $300 which equals 5000 EGP. Any suggestions? I don't plan to run much VMs nor store stuffs so 8GB RAM would be fine, and I can put my old spare 320GB HDD so that'd be very great. My budget is below 2000 EGP ($130 USD).

Hi all friends.
I did not find a good result in Google in my own language.
That's why I created this thread to get an answer and training.
I was wondering if you could create a virtual Ram on Linux using hard disk space? Ugh I've heard that this is possible in Windows so I said so in Linux it should.
Thanks for sharing any tutorials on this topic
And one more question. For example, how much 50 GB of space does the virtual ram create?

Hello,
Got another mail mentioning same upgrade for other VPS 9 locations.
Regards,
Got another mail mentioning same upgrade for other VPS 9 locations.
Quote:Your service with us is currently running on virtualization technology that is no longer being supported. We will be moving your server to newer hardware to upgrade the virtualization software to one that is supported & improved.
What to expect:Your affected services:
- Your service’s IPv4 address will change
- There will be a few hours, up to several hours of downtime during migration
- Your service’s data will be migrated and remain the same
- While the data is the same, software adjustment may be necessary
- Your service’s performance should increase, thanks to newer hardware
- Although you are being moved to a better service, pricing will remain the same
- For Frankfurt/Phoenix, you may temporarily be moved to a nearby location
Scheduled time & information:
- Post2Host-Phoenix, Post2Host-Buffalo, Post2Host-LosAngeles, Post4VPS-Dallas, Post4VPS-Atlanta
Since we are migrating many people to several new servers, it is hard to pinpoint exact times this will occur. The scheduled time, if available, will be posted on the scheduled section of the Network Status page. Otherwise, if we miss the deadline, we will update the network issue page with more information & a new date as soon as possible. In any case, if the scheduled date is moved up to be sooner, we will attempt to give you 1-week notice. For Phoenix and Frankfurt locations, we have a limited amount of space. You may be moved to Amsterdam instead of Frankfurt, and Los Angeles instead of Phoenix. If this occurs, you will receive a free migration in the future back to the original location, if requested. After initially checking the network issue page for your service's migration date, please check the network issue page again on the day of migration for further updates.
We recommend you back up your important data. While complications are rare, they may occur. Also, please note that you may have issues with your software, please check the "More Information" section below. If your IP address is changed, we will try to provide you the new IP address at least 24 hours in advance, so you can prepare. Please note, we will not be assigning any IPv6 addresses. Once again, any further updates or communication will occur on the network status page and you may not receive another email.
Other options:
Please do contact us if (1) you want to be migrated sooner, (2) you have any custom requests, or (3) you want to request a pro-rated refund and early cancellation if you prefer. We will try our best to accommodate you. Keep in mind, most new servers may become available at a later date so space is limited.
More information (for advanced users)
Your service will be moved from an older OpenVZ6 node, which is reaching end of life. It will be migrated to a newer KVM node. The container will be converted and moved over to this newer server. Your plan will become a “KVM Lite” package, which is our new line of services with more features than your current OpenVZ6 service, and slightly lower features than our premium KVM packages. Some known issues may occur upon conversion. For CentOS 7, some RPM libraries may need to be re-installed to get yum to work. For Ubuntu 16, there are some cases where your running services may need to be re-enabled for systemd to recognize them by using the systemctl enable command. With the thousands of different configurations, you may face a different unexpected issue, if you do, feel free to contact us for assistance, but please understand that due to the number of services being converted, it may take longer than usual to assist you.
Your service will have expandable dedicated disk space, starting above your current disk usage level, up to your server's current maximum disk allocation. This means that your server will appear to have less usable disk space and should you require more space, you can expand it automatically at any time through the service page. Your service will also have full logical processor core(s) with fair usage, and the ability to control its kernel as a part of KVM virtualization, free of charge. If you have a package with very low resources, we may also increase these so your VPS continues to run smoothly on KVM virtualization. However, as your package was initially OpenVZ6, we will not perform or provide any additional “premium” services, such as custom ISO mounts, or the Windows OS.
Thank you,
The VirMach Team
Regards,
Anyway here love readings and many buying books? Reading is one of my long term hobbies. I love reading anything. Not just novels but historical stuff, Mysteries, philosophy, etc. I have always dreamed to have my own Library. Now I have a big enough book collection for that and all I need is a big room and enough cupboards for books. I like to collect interesting books. Especially those hardcover editions.
Anyone Here love reading books or collecting books ?

Hello everyone,
wish you all a very happy Diwali. yes, even to those who had to run to Google for its meaning.
now i wish for you guys to suggest me the lowest price graphics card that will be enough for a smooth 4k edit. But wait, please let me clarify some things.
lowest price means lowest in canada. A very dear friend is coming to visit India in March, next year.
i know that only evga graphics cards have international warranty. but for that one will have to send to Taiwan or Germany from India. that is expensive. no other cards even do that. but i don't care much.
by 4k edit, i mean a smooth real time playback to check the effects and edits while editing. i don't care about fast enough rendering. I'm talking about normal bitrate 4k. not top of the line red camera 4k bitrate.
some say 1050ti, some say gtx 1650 and some other told me to go for rx 580 8gb. another friend suggested i wait for the next release. i am confused. though i will probably go for nvidia cards, for cuda cores and for low temp.
i don't game ever and no. I'm not going to. except may be civilization and limbo.
don't worry about processor. it is ryzen 3600 or something similar. ram will be Corsair vengeance lpx cl 18 3600mhz or cl 16 3200 mhz, 16gb at the least.
please suggest away and tell me why.
oh. i expect responses from personal experience ( even "friends say" will do ).

yes. you read it right. they claim to be the best and smallest gps tracking device.
they are also offering one year data free of cost.
price is a bit on the high side for Indian market i guess. but for these features, may be justified. though i hear you can have tracking solutions nowadays for your car or bike at even 2k inr or so. i dunno about extra monthly charges or data charges though.
this one seemed really small and so i wanted to post it here to let you know.
here are the links.
gps locator
may be you could set one up and use as a personal lowjack alternative for places where they are not available.
fair warning... lol. I'm not promoting them out in any way affiliated to them. I'm not gaining anything from it. also this is not something i used and endorse. this just excited my curiosity and hence i came here to post and share.
